Where an individual has been granted refugee status, he/she may apply to the Minister for Justice and Equality for members of his/her family to also reside in the State

The categories of persons who may be reunited with the refugee (subject to certain criteria) include:

  • The spouse or civil partner of the refugee
  • A child (under 18 years of age) of the refugee
  • A family member who is genuinely dependent on the refugee

Applications to be Minister for Justice and Equality for family reunification should be processed within six months.
